Guests’ investigative skills were put to the challenge at the Marquee Mystery Annual Gala event held at the Halekulani, hosted by our friends at Hawaii Theatre. Wealthy Bostonian turned Honolulu socialite and philanthropist, Minerva Winterslip, gathered family and friends of Hawaii Theatre to announce her intentions for a generous gift she would bestow upon the Theatre. However, other Guests had their own mischievous intentions to get their hands on her wealth. In this 1920’s Honolulu-themed affair, Guests enjoyed cocktails, gourmet cuisine, and live entertainment, as they uncovered clues to determine whodunit.
Our design team was charged with turning the venue into a setting fit for a mystery. One of the highlights was a table of curiosities that left Guests intrigued during the cocktail hour. Antlers, skeleton keys, apothecary bottles, bell jars, and an alligator skull were among the various obscure objects that sent chills up Guests’ spines and pondering what was in store for the evening. Adding a touch of elegance and simplicity, we paired sand colored roses with sandblasted grapevines and fluffy spots of moss, providing an earthy accent to the clear glass vessels and candle light ambiance.
It’s no mystery when it comes to great design at Current Affairs!
