An International (Market Place) Affair

A picture tells a thousand words, yet so does a Client’s thank you correspondence:

Current Affairs Team!

Our heartfelt thanks to you for designing for International Market Place events as special as the destination. Everything from the gala to the maile lei was beautiful, special and set the right tone for our center and our special guests.

We have so appreciated your ability to go … through our concerns …with confident solutions. Your hard work and professionalism is exactly what we were looking for in an event company, and we definitely made the right decision when hiring Current Affairs.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for everything!
Nancy and Maria

Current Affairs had the tremendous honor to plan and produce many facets of the two-day celebration marking the official reopening of Waikiki’s famed International Market Place. The Events included a VIP cocktail reception on the eve of reopening followed by the blessing and grand opening the next morning.

To follow is a closer look at each of these events:

Our Team included a collaboration of local and talented Chefs that highlighted each of their own unique styles of food while creating a cohesive taste of Hawaii with both crafted beverages and artful canapés. Food stations were set up throughout the open-air center.

Grand Opening: Blessing and Opening Ceremony

Prior to the official untying of the maile lei, a Polynesian chanter sang a traditional Hawaiian chant signaling the beginning of the blessing and ceremony.

A beautiful blush and pink lei lined the entire stage. Queen Emma’s favorite fragrant roses with accents of maile adorned the lei. Truly unique and special, the lei was hand crafted by talented locals on Oahu and neighbor islands for the blessing.

… and, confetti!
