Crazy rich cocktails for all

October 2019 – So many of our events are private affairs. When we get to indulge in ones that welcome the general public, we love to get a little crazy. Our recent Partnership with the Hawaii Food & Wine Festival called “Crazy Rich Cocktails” was a festive beginning to the season of eat, drink and be merry. Inspired by the opulent wedding scene of the 2018 hit movie Crazy Rich Asians, this year’s specialty event married Hawaii’s mastermind mixologists and celebrated Chefs for a glitzy and luxurious poolside soirée at the newly reimagined Alohilani Resort Waikiki Beach.

Crafting an experience for nearly 1,000 attendees that vibes with the film’s $40 million crazy rich wedding was no easy production. Water played a pivotal role in the movie scene that featured a reflecting pool as part of the garden-themed nuptials. For our Crazy Rich Cocktails interpretive experience, human lilies floated across the pool while firelit butterflies and fireflies were anchored in planter boxes.

Just as the movie’s every detail was measured for the Hollywood-meets-Singapore wedding, Crazy Rich Cocktails was shaken and stirred with the same devotion to a celebration of Asia.  The culinary showcase included food from more than 20 international Chefs, including Iron Chef Masuharu Morimoto, who attended. All presented their most succulent, lavish bites of Asian flavors and the festival’s master mixologists showcased their most daring craft cocktail creations.

We have proudly Partnered with the Hawaii Food & Wine Festival for a number of years and love innovating fresh and exciting approaches to their themes. Just as the film’s wedding song in the movie was “I can’t help falling in love.” And all of us at Current Affairs, fell head over heels in love with producing this event.
