Raising the glass for Hawaii’s luxury retailers

August 2019 – It’s Obon week, which is one of Japan’s major holidays when thousands head to Hawaii to vacation in a shopper’s paradise.

During a stroll through bustling Ala Moana Center in Honolulu, I see a tall and striking young man winks at pedestrians with his piercing blue eyes. Adorned in a black hat with a red band, he’s dressed as a page boy with black suspenders, red pants and a bow tie. He opens a gilded door and two butlers are beaming, standing tall with an offering on a silver tray – a frosty glass of bubbling champagne. Two wide-eyed tourists from Japan giggle with excitement and slip inside the store, a sanctuary that’s glittering with jewels.

There’s nothing like retail therapy in August. It’s the season in which luxury stores showcase traveling collections and roll out the red carpet for shoppers. Events abound from the Waikiki strip, lined with luxury boutiques and salons, to Ala Moana Center, Hawaii’s hub of the largest collections of high-end retailers in the world. These few miles represent the highest concentration of luxury stores in Hawaii.

These brands turn to Current Affairs to elevate their customer experience during this peak travel season because we understand how these events must be an elegant and elevated extension of each unique retailer.

As we have for decades, this month we Partnered with stores to celebrate the season. Yet helping brands deepen their relationship with customers happens year-round. Current Affairs opens their flagships across the Hawaiian Island chain.  Our Team helps luxury retailers host exquisite dinners that showcase new collections to top customers in breathtaking exclusive venues including private penthouses. We curate menus and help craft specialty, signature cocktails.

I just love the intimate way in which we are a part of one-of-a-kind experiences for brands that really showcase their distinction.
